The fastest headphones in the USA: Sprinter Tyson Gay presents new sports headphones from Sennheiser and adidas
Las Vegas, 6 January 2010 – He's fast – very fast – and he loves music. The US sprinter Tyson Gay is the American Record Holder in the 100 meters and reigning World Championship Silver Medalist. His best time of 9.69 seconds makes him the second fastest man of all time. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on 8 January, he will be promoting the new range of headphones from Sennheiser and adidas, which have been specially developed for sports applications.
"I love music, especially hip-hop and Gospel," said Tyson Gay. That's why the top athlete always has a selection of his favourite songs with him when he is warming up. "Good music motivates me; it puts me in the right mood to start training. My absolute ‘power song’ is ‘Let’s Get it Started’ by the Black Eyed Peas. When I'm listening to that, I can really focus on the sporting challenge ahead." For that reason, his training equipment also includes the new sports headphones from Sennheiser and adidas.
"As I always like to listen to music during my warm-up session, it’s really important that the headphones fit properly. I need headphones that fit securely in my ears no matter how much I move and at the same time stay comfortable", the athlete explained. "And that’s exactly what the sports headphones from Sennheiser and adidas do." The four models, with different ergonomically shaped earpieces are specially designed for even the most demanding sports applications. "My favourite headphones are the PMX 680. They have a really useful neckband that ensures that the headphones stay in place even when I am running or during my stretching exercises," Tyson Gay continued. "That lets me focus entirely on my training."
It goes without saying, of course, that the headphones also offer excellent sound quality. The high-performance, hard-wearing loudspeaker system in each new sports model delivers powerful, energizing stereo sound. Tough and durable materials make the headphones insensitive to vibration. "The sound of the sports headphones is fantastic. It has really clear trebles and punchy basses that give the sound a lot of energy," said the top athlete.
Tyson Gay will present the new sports headphones to an international public at the 2010 CES show in Las Vegas. Show visitors and members of the media have the opportunity to meet Tyson Gay on Friday, January 8th at 2 p.m. at the Sennheiser booth #21240 for an autograph and photo opportunity. Throughout the show, any visitor to the Sennheiser booth can enter drawings to win Sennheiser products.
The sports headphones will be delivered to Sennheiser sales partners and select adidas Sport Performance sales outlets from January 2010.
