The evolution e 965 now also available as a wireless microphone

Wedemark, 14 July 2009 – The waiting is over: the e 965, Sennheiser’s multi-award-winning large-diaphragm condenser microphone, is now also available as a wireless version. The MMK 965-1 microphone head enables 2000 Series and evolution wireless G3 handheld transmitters to be converted into the highly popular vocal microphone.

“The evolution e 965 is the top-of-the-range microphone in the wired 900 Series,” explained Stephan Scherthan, Industry Team Manager for the music industry. “Ever since this microphone came onto the market, bands and vocalists have been asking for a wireless version. We are now very pleased to be able to fulfil this demand.”

The MMK 965 microphone head offers the typical sound of a large-diaphragm capsule with its natural and detailed resolution in the treble. At the same time, the microphone has been optimised for use in the toughest live performances. The capsule is optimally protected against moisture and the signal is already converted to a robust, low impedance in the capsule itself.

The double-diaphragm capsule can be switched between a cardioid and super-cardioid pick-up pattern to allow it to be perfectly adapted to the stage situation and type of sound required. The cardioid pick-up pattern provides a very natural sound, while the super-cardioid offers optimum vocal assertion on stages with a high volume level. As the capsule becomes more directional at high frequencies, it effectively reduces spill-over from instruments such as the drum kit and provides generous space for the vocals to develop.

The MMK 965-1 microphone head is part of the evolution wireless ew 500-965 G3 vocal set or, as a single capsule, can be combined with an SKM 2000, SKM 100 G3, SKM 300 G3 or SKM 500 G3 handheld transmitter. The microphone module is available in the colours black and nickel as well as the typical blue colour of the evolution 900 Series.
